It also doesn’t help to drive into rush hour traffic, as it adds onto our migraines like clock work. Some transportation companies may be overwhelmed by how to effectively communicate traffic changes, construction work, lane closures and so on.
OCG PR and its client, AGL Constructors, saw an opportunity to educate and engage the community about roadway safety and the 35Express project – the massive construction project that touches nine municipalities, two counties, involves two federal agencies, four transportation organizations and one regional organization.
We had success building a solid foundation of followers through construction updates and traffic alerts. However, there were concerns that were communicated in community meetings and via social media about driver safety.
OCG PR then identified safety months such as Work Zone Safety Awareness Month and Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month as prime opportunities to share fresh relevant messaging on safety with our target audience and to partner with the community through events and more.
OCG PR developed and executed #safedrive35, an online and offline experience that focused on raising awareness of the 35Express project as well as the issue of distracted driving.
We found sharing quizzes, driver and Work Zone safety videos, showing project progress and providing driver safety education via social channels created a personal and emotional connection with the audience.
