Situation: The Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) and Trinity River Vision Authority (TRVA) share one objective – to make the Trinity River accessible to all citizens. To help promote this natural resource and its amenities to the community TRWD and TRVA called on OCG PR.
Action: Using a "take the river to the people" strategy, OCG PR facilitated the formation of a partnership with the Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) to help young citizens experience the Trinity River in a new way: an art contest. A seven-member panel comprised of community leaders judged more than 200 entries. TRWD donated $500 to each school's art department and the top three artists from each school received cash prizes. The student artwork was displayed at various locations along the Trinity River and at community events.
Value Added: The art contest was covered by several local print and broadcast media outlets. Due to the art contest's success, the program was slated to return and expand to include higher education institutions.
