FORT WORTH, MAY 8, 2012 – They say everything is bigger in Texas. At Open Channels Group (OCG), that’s definitely true. With growth in staff, services and recognitions, 2012 is shaping up to be a momentous year for the full-service PR agency, specializing in multicultural, digital, and public participation (P2).
OCG recently received the 2012 Vision Fort Worth 20/20 Award in the small business category from the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce young professionals organization, Vision Fort Worth. Finalists for this award are nominated, judged and voted on by young professionals, based on the company’s ability to prepare them for career development and community leadership.
OCG’s vision for young professionals includes giving them the opportunity to contribute to client projects in a meaningful way, which allows them to gain relevant experience at the onset of their careers. This philosophy starts at the top with President and Founder Tonya Veasey. Since 2005, Veasey has coached and developed young talent to reach their full potential in the PR industry.
“Every opportunity we have to invest in young professionals is an opportunity to prepare that person to make great contributions to our community and our industry,” said Veasey. “Developing future leaders is something I am truly passionate about, so receiving this award tells me that we are on the right track at Open Channels Group.”
On the heels of this recognition, OCG added two new full-time communications professionals to support the company’s expanding P2 practice.
Christie Eskew joins OCG as a senior account executive after a five-year career at the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG). Serving as a member of the NCTCOG
9-1-1 program management team, she worked to promote 9-1-1 public education and awareness. With a degree in business management from Kaplan University, Eskew will use her knowledge and experience to execute public engagement strategies on behalf of OCG clients.
Breanna Standifer is the newest account executive at OCG. Standifer graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington, with a degree in PR. After starting at OCG as a part-time assistant account executive in 2011, she returns to support the P2 team.
In addition to a growing team, OCG is increasing capabilities in 2012. By establishing a digital practice, OCG now operates as a full-service PR agency, offering its clients an integrated PR approach, including social media, Web design and development, video production, and more.
OCG also updated its website (www.openchannelsgroup.com) to better reflect its expansion and growth. Some of the new features allow visitors to view client work and case studies, more information about its specialty practice areas, the Channeled Thoughts blog roll, and subscribe to the mailing list that includes the Ink It Orange e-newsletter.
With nearly eight months left to go in 2012, OCG predicts things will only get bigger at the PR agency this year.
